Settings
Colour themes, editor typography, location display, export and import, and account management.
Settings is the last entry in the desktop rail and in the phone drawer. This is a tour of what is in it, top to bottom.
Manage Devices
Every device you have signed in on, with its platform and colour. Tap the pencil to change a device’s Display Name or Device Color. Covered in Sync and devices.
Display
Theme — System Default, Light, or Dark.
Color theme — the palette the app is drawn in. Five to choose from:
| Theme | Look |
|---|---|
| MemNote | The default. MemNote’s own brand palette — blue and gold, a warm off-white in light mode and true black in dark mode — with a hand-picked set of tag colours to match |
| Classic Blue | The blue MemNote shipped with before the brand palette |
| Forest | Green |
| Plum | Purple |
| Rose | Pink |
The row shows a four-swatch preview of whichever is active. Note that MemNote and Classic Blue use different tag palettes, so tag colours shift a little when you move between them.
Layout Density — Relaxed (Default) or Compact. Compact tightens the spacing throughout, which is worth it on a small screen or a long note list.
Editor Font — System Default, Inter, Lato, Source Sans 3, Merriweather, Lora, Roboto Mono, or JetBrains Mono. This changes the editor only, not the rest of the app.
Editor Body Text Size — 12 to 24 pt, defaulting to 14.
Location Format
How much of a note’s place name to show: Full Address, City & State (the default), State & Country, or Hide Location.
Hide Location affects the display only — coordinates are still captured, synced, and exported. See Context capture.
Data & Sync
Full Sync pushes every local change up and pulls all cloud data down. Sync is automatic, so this is a repair tool rather than part of normal use — see Sync and devices.
Connected AI
Everything you need to point an AI assistant at your notes:
- MCP server URL — tap to copy it.
- Set up in Claude — copies the URL and opens Claude’s connector settings.
- Set up in ChatGPT — copies the URL and opens ChatGPT’s connector settings.
The full walkthrough is in Hosted MCP server.
Data Management
Export all notes (Markdown) saves every note as a .md file, with your
images alongside them, in one zip. Import Notes (Markdown) reads a MemNote
export back in. Both are described in
Notes and the editor.
Account
Sign Out signs you out of this device. Your notes stay in the cloud and come back when you sign in again.
Delete Account removes your account and everything in it — notes, tags, and images — from MemNote’s servers and from this device. It is deliberately hard to do by accident: you have to tick I understand and want to permanently delete my account before the confirm button becomes active. It cannot be undone.
If you want a copy of your notes, export them first.
Your signed-in email address is printed under these two, along with the app version and the OpenStreetMap credit at the very bottom — worth quoting the version if you ever report a problem.
